How it all works

Imagine this… your people enter the room to be met by the sounds of drumming from the Human Rhythms team. As the team members take to their seats, they realize they each have their own drum and enthusiastically start to play.

At this point, the Human Rhythms facilitator orchestrates the individual contributions into one unified musical performance by the layering of rhythms and sound dynamics. Periodically, the group is led through warm-up stretches and light-hearted moves designed to amuse, loosen and relax.

Our trained team will then facilitate a series of fun, simple rhythms that will build in intensity and complexity, both challenging and uplifting all present, ultimately climaxing in a crescendo of sounds. For the 45 to 60 minute period your group undergoes an energy transformation by experiencing an unforgettable musical journey, where laughter happens and motivation is achieved in a high energy, interactive performance.

This program gets everyone “in the moment”. They are thinking only about what is going on around them and what they are doing. This “entertainment” removes all other stressors and gives everyone the opportunity to become completely engaged in the activity at hand.

Your team are the performers (the orchestra), led by our facilitator (the conductor), hanessing the power and creativity of your team. There is no need for words. Everybody gets it! They have experienced the synergy of group drumming. They have connected with each other on a different level and these connections will flow through into the workplace.

How it all began

Early in 2001, in Sydney Australia, Mickey Shaked, began implementing the idea of using music and rhythm to connect and motivate teams of people – and Human Rhythms was born! Mickey was inspired by a close friend who was using group drumming in South Africa as a way of connecting people across cultures. South Africa was transitioning out of Apartheid and the atmosphere in the country at that time was very volatile and unstable. Drumming brought people together. It made them feel part of a community. It was a way of channeling intense emotions and encouraging people to start listening to each other.

Since those early days the dedicated and dynamic Human Rhythms team have brought music and unity to over 100,000 people around the world, bringing out their hidden talents, helping people listen to and support one another, inspiring them to great heights.

The concept was so well received that Human Rhythms quickly expanded into new markets and, due to the non-verbal nature of the product, was able to connect with a diverse range of cultures throughout the world.

Today Human Rhythms has offices throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia and beyond.
